Cut elk antlers in half to pack, heck................I didn't even cut my 65" moose antlers in half to pack. come on, they're not that heavy or hard to pack. I'd pack the biggest set of elk antlers out, and let someone else pack the two hind 1/4's.

It's pretty common to split caribou antlers to fly out. With elk I've never had to---I live in Colorado.
Pretty sure you are talking about flying them home---not out the woods. Don't think it would be a big deal to split the rack. I think Frontier Airlines isn't talking antlers this year. Airlines are getting to be a big pain in the butt. CB

Never would I personally cut a rack in two! It comes off the skull plate with no problem & is no big deal to pack out if you're in reasonable shape! I've packed a few the furthest 5 miles GPS. Of course I've never had an elk mounted before either as score is cool but not top priority to us! They stay intact!!
