Default Spring Black Bear Hunts?

Can anyone tell me a good guide for Spring Black Bear? Here in the States or Canada... I would be using Bow ( 59# PSE Compound, Fred Bear Hunter 55# Recurve ) or My T/C Renegade .54 cal Black Powder. Thank You.

You might also want to consider alberta or B.C. as you can take two bears a year. Most hunters take the firsat decent bear they see then hold their second tag for a very large bear or a colored bear.

Saskatchewan' s bear population is high and not hunted hard at all. Respectable boar size (300-450lbs) and lots of colour phase bears. If interested, you can get a list of camps at www.soa.ca (Sask. Outfitters Assoc. website) Most hunts run 2-2,500 US for 6 days of hunting and boast success rates in the 90' s.

One of the scariest things to do is booking a hunt. There are too many crooks out there. When I wanted to book a spring bear hunt, I was lost. My mothers new husband had been to Canada and Maine on several occassions and highly recommended an outfitter to me. In fact, he booked the hunt as well and I can tell you, this gentleman/outfitter is great.

Turnpike Ridge Outfitters out of Maine. They spring bear hunt in Quebec. In my camp, 6 of 8 shot bears, 3 with bow, 3 with rifle. He sets stands out for each person, about 3 or 4 and at no time will someone hunt your stands before or after you. Great hunt.

Mystic,
I was successful the last two years at Long Lake Adventures in New Brunswick. Terrific accomodations and the outfitter was top notch. Going back again this year 3rd week of May. They have a web site at; www.longlakeadventures.com or contact Clay Harrison (506) 356-5151 for more information. Good luck where ever you end up! Rick
