as it should be.we also pay up the a$$ togo to other states. i am not sure what a non res lis. is for mass but n.h. it cost me 103$ for just my hunting. $53 tofish and then if i wanna turkey hunt thats another fee, the moose hunt is another fee if you get drawn, snowmobilereg. are rediculous. black powder is a foolish price and the bow lisence! i think all the states shove it to the other really. i pay it cuz it gives me more time to huntbeing able to hunt sundays in nh and that alows me to kill two or three bucks a year. pretty much costs both states the same

njbuck, or anyone else moose hunting in Maine in 2008,

Hello, I'd be glad to help you with any advise/hands-on help I may have to offer.(NO MONEY STRINGS ATTACHED) Been on four moose hunts so far and think I may have picked up a tip or two.

Also, keep the faith. I applied for 20+ years without a sniff of a moose permit and then in the course of the next two years, got drawn and then again as a sub-permittee.

if you patiaint and do some calling theres no reason to come home empty handed.
This may or may not be the case..as it depends on temps, which hunting season you have first or second week. The fact that you can be calling and here them coming on to have coyotes start howling and yipping as they chase them away. So there are variables to this but, for the most part it would be correct if the person calling knows what they are doing. Also bare in mind that this past winter has been harsh and some areas may or may not prove to be that great of hunting in the coming season. Here in the town limits a moose was put down for brain worm or something like that yesterday. In some of the more northern areas of the state the amount of snowfall has caused some bad conditions. If things do not turn around soon cows will have poor success with thier calfs. Some areas of Northern Maine has reported ( lastI here of ) 192 inches of snow! With this deep amount of snow some are having a hard time getting around and starvation also needs to be conciderd.. Scouting prior to the hunting season should be a must in the more northern parts of the state. Here is a photo that I have had up already that shows a moose in deep snow. This one never made it as it was found after a few days and couldn't regain it's strength to stand up again.

thats all true but its not the first time these animals have had to battle deep snow. w/ the high winds and ain and settling mother natures always seems to figure its self out. my familily alone has taken three bulls over 900lbs and i have been on hunts w/ friends that have done well also. we actually got more snow where i am then they got up around bingham solon athens area. i didnt get a chance to slide over tho eustis camp but im sure they got a little more. another option is to be a "rig rider" like many of them do cuz thats wicked fun and challenging
