Could be too much for squirrells, but I have been known to shoot a barking one that wouldn't shut up after 25 mintutes.
What are you going to be huntin for(?), but yes a 30-06 is a weapon that should be in ones arsenal.
Welcome to the forum.

IMO everything up to Grizzly and larger bears and bison. Although it has definetly been used here too. I would just want 338 win mag or larger when going after these animals.

It is a great cartridge.

As to your question, it will depend on your definitions of: "good" and "all" especially the latter.

With proper ammunition and shot placement, it is good for everything in NA.

its the most overrated round ever, its a deer cartridge, and its ok at that. 150grains, deer, done.

Skip the '06 and get yourself a few rifles of different calibers, none of them being a '06

I've used on everything in the lower 48. Moose, elk, bighorn, muleys, cougar, black bear, mtn goat & antelope all here in Colorado. Moose was in WY. I used in South Africa also----Kudu,gemsbuck, impala, zebra. The 180 grain is my bullet for everything.

The only I would not hunt with it is grizzly. But if you can afford a grizzly hunt----you can afford to get a 375 H&H. CB
