Default Semi-auto's Allowed in your state?

I was doing an IM with a guy from another bd and he mentioned semi-auto rifles were not allowed to hunt with. Just wondering how many states have this law? And what is your law reguarding minimun caliber size? Thanks.

Good Luck. Capt Brad.

Semi-auto shotguns are allowed in PA but no rifles. The shotguns can not be used for big game, actually cannot be used for deer or bear with slugs. No semi-auto handguns as well.

No problems that I know of in Alaska. My first gun was a semi auto .22 Still have it and use it.

Semi-auto with a total capacity of five rounds is allowed for big game in Oregon . Min caliber is a centerfire rifle for deer and .25 caliber for elk .

In NM Semi-autos are legal, I believe it must be a .243 and up. Good luck.

A .230 or larger with a case length of 1.somethin or other, I forget now. Basically the only things shorter than legal are pistol rounds anyway, like .45acp, 9parabellum (aka...), .357sig. Basically, our law seems to be based around handguns, because although there is no law prohibiting use of semiauto pistols, the cartridge regulations ban them, while almost ALL wheelguns would be legal. It kinda sucks because a buddy of mine wants to use his 9parabellum carbine for deer, and he shoots it well enough out to 50yrds I'm sure he could get the job done (does dang well on coyotes out to 75-100 with it), but can't use it <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>.

Screw the 10 ring, keep them in the zero!!!

I've never heard of a state that prohibited use of semi auto rifles as long as they are bigger that .24 cal. Is there a state that restricts the use of a particular action rifle?
