2008 Tag draw coming up!
#1
Seasons are coming to a close, particularly out West - other than some late archery hunting, cow elk hunts, etc...
Anybody excited for next year's drawings?!! I sure am. I have enough bonus points to draw my mule deer tag in Colorado next year, and that's a real exciting deal for me!
Also, I stand a pretty good chance of drawing moose in Montana, and maybe a controlled hunt deer tag for Idaho.
First of course, there's all that spring bear hunting, varmint shooting and fishing to be done.... Where's the time go?

I've got a bonus point in Wyoming for elk. I have a friend that will take me on a wilderness early rifle hunt during the rut if I get drawn.
I have 1 bonus point for Montana special elk permit, not sure if I am going to apply for a deer/elk combo license in Montana again or not. This year got kind of expensive with successful drawings for deer/elk combo and antelope!

Man I don't know how you guys can afford to do all that out of state hunting.. I'm still eating through my $700 Montana Mule deer and the unfilled Elk tag for dessert.. May try Idaho for elk since its a bit cheaper and closer for me.. or just stay in WA state where I have 4 bonus points but the hunting is not as good.

Yeah, you sure can't justify the price of the meat! I drove on my hunt and the lodging was free and I think when it all came down to it my mule deer and antelope ended up costing close to $20/lb, and Idid all the processing myself. [:-]
Depending on how you calculate the cost of the land, my Texas whitetail ended up costing even more than my Montana mule deer even though the price of my hunting license in Texas was less than $50.
The memories were priceless though!

Well, personally, I don't travel for the cost of the meat. How much does it cost to take your family to Disney land?
I go for the experience of being in a new and wondrous place, and to kill stuff with big horns that live there. My wife wants to know if we will ever have a vacation where something doesn't die.
