Are you a bear hunter? If so, what kind do you hunt, where do you hunt, etc. I might start hunting black bears here in PA next season.

Walk softly and carry a big gun...or just make accurate shots.

I carry a brownie tag every where I go. Some of the biggest browns live right in my neiborhood,(with the exception of the big Kodiaks). I also hunt blacks. I have not shot either yet, but I think this is my year. LaMar Graham.Wasilla Alaska.

I've put stalks on black bears, brown bears and interior grizzlies so far. I only hunt bears with a bow, so I'm hoping for up close and personal encounters with them. This spring I took a nice black bear on the beaches in south east Alaska from 9 yards, that was a pretty intense rush.

There's nothing like it! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I've been chasing the black bears here in PA. for 30 years, but I've only ever killed one! Seems the guys that I take out with Me have all the luck! I do all the scouting, and preparations, and they get all the opportunities. I'm heading to Maine this Sept. for a bear hunt. If I had to give up hunting every game animal in PA except one, I'd still be hunting bear every year.

I hunt black bear in Manitoba, I have killed 5 bear in 5 years. 3 of them (bck to bck to bck) were large bears. I have taken 2 with a bow and 3 with a rifle. If I could hunt nothing else it would be bear. I love them!!!!!!!!!!

I hunt bears within 10 or 12 miles of my home.I see a lot of bears, have killed a few and I have guided many other people to bears over the years.I have no plans on killing another black bear though unless it is blonde in color or extremely large as I don't really enjoy bear meat and already have black bear(black and cinnamon color) and grizzly rugs.

I have been hunting bears in PA for five years. Two years ago I saw about 150-175 pounder, but I could not get a shot at 40 yards. It was exteremly thick were it had come through. This year I went back roughly to the same location. On the first day at 0750 hrs a real nice one was feeding towards me. I shot her at 45 yds with my 12 gauge shotgun, using sabots. She only ran 40 yards and stopped, so I put another round into her shoulder and she went belly up on the spot. She weighed in at 308 lbs. and there were no rub marks on her hide. When I returned home, my wife had told me that I was going to get a life size mount of the bear. I guess that is every guys dream to have your wife tell you that you are going to get trophies mounted. I would include a picture, but I am unsure how?

Congrats, waterdog! That's a true trophy in PA. Not many sows get that heavy.

I hunt for the blackies here is New Brunswick they are a bigger then the ones in Maine. I love to bear hunt 10 times more then deer. I use a bow but I do have a gun back a the truck to track with. I have started to get ready for the season that opens apr 15. With a could Hunt for black bears anywhere it would be in New Foundland they have the biggest black bears in the world. This year I'am holding out for a huge bear I got 3 months to hunt in so I can take my time and get a 250 to 300 monster

Waterdog...can you wife talk to mine??? I'd appreciate it.

Both of my PA bears were done in rugs and I want the next to be a live mount. Love bear hunting.
