Fall Black Bear Hunting
I am going to be bear hunting this fall since i had no luck this spring, seen one cinamon brown bear about 10 feet behind as i was sitting on the ground, he ran away before i got a shot. My question is do you guys have any tactics for bear hunting in the fall or do youjust dothe same thing as you do in the spring. We have baits and would probly stalk if we seen one to far away to shoot.

RE: Fall Black Bear Hunting
I mostly use bait stations just because it more practical. I just get in the stand in the late afternoon and stay until it get to dark to shoot sometimes later if there is some decent moon light. Most of the time I fire up a thermacell and read a book.
If you are having trouble getting them in during the fall you might try going to carb based bait like apples or grains. Black bears carb up more in the fall to build up the winter fat that is why they are in the berry patches. If you need some to attract them check the local grocery store for half rotten fruit the will probably give it to you.
