i have lived in texas all my life. i have a passion for hunting hogs. tere are very few if any places to hunt free. either you will have to know someone that has a ranch or you will have to pay. i hog hunt in the palestine area. go to web site oversize outfitters and you will see a pic of a hog i killed/

I hope this isn't too late. It depends on where you are. If you are out of state you would be best off to book with a guide or outfitter. There are quite a few in NE TX (east of Dallas). Most are very reasonable($150.00-$200.00/day). There are tons of hogs in that area of the state. I lived and hunted in TX for one year and although I didn't take a hog that year I saw lots of sign. This was in Sam Houston National Forest (Huntsville,TX). Check out www.texasboars.com. This site will cover just about everything you want to know about hunting hogs in TX.
