07 spring bear success!
6'-3", 260lb field dressed
I find it incredibly labor intensive to post pictures on this site. Can anyone simplify this for me? I mean, is there a one sentence explanation, or is this system fubar? I post pics on other sites with ease. Enough with the frustration. Good luck to all spring bear hunters out there. Going to Idaho later on to hunt bear over bait. |

I got it right behind the front shoulder.
Just kidding. The hunt was in Southwestern Montana, and the shot was about 125yds. This was the 6th time I had been out spotting and stalking this spring, and the fourth bear I saw (not counting numerous tracks, etc..). The hunt itself was exciting, but the pack-out was the real hair raiser. My good bud that was with me at the time had the brilliant idea of floating the bruiser down the river I had shot him accross. This did actually turn out to be a brilliant idea, even though it was cold, we were able to steer him with rope and muscle to a point we could get at him withcable and a winch. We then hauled him up a 60' incline and loaded him on a 4 wheeler. The rest was cake. Sure beat the heck out of quartering and packing. |
