Default Bare butt bear

This is a bear that was coming into the bait site last year. Looks pretty good size. Do you think he scratched off his hair from bugs?

Didn't he star in a John Candy movie? Maybe "The Great Outdoors"?

HAHAHA.. .what a great movie..... I heard stories about a bug/insect that could attack the hair and leave large bald spots.... i'll try and research it and post something.

I think it might be Scabies where the hair is attacked at its root by a mite.

see article i found below.

**Animal forms of scabies exist and are generally referred to as mange. S scabiei causes mange in many companion and livestock animals and is responsible for epizootic diseases in wild populations of cats, ungulates, boars, wombats, ferrets, koalas, and great apes. It is considered to be a major cause of mortality among red foxes, coyotes, and wombat.
