Default Moose hunt in Alaska

Anyone been on a Moose hunt in Alaska that they would recommend? It is expensive and most likely a once in a lifetime event, so I want to go with a great outfitter.

Go on a DIY hunt. You don't need a guide to hunt moose in Ak.

It's been 3 seasons now since I went on my hunt in AK. I went with my best friend and we used Stoney River Lodge which is located approx. 230 air miles west of Anchorage. He had a nicely run outfit with a real nice lodge and bunk houses, and all gear and planes seemed to be in good working order. There were a few guys that left empty handed, but they all saw legal moose! We saw several moose at our hunt camp, which was two man tents for 9 days. We saw game every day, my buddy took a real nice caribou out of the same camp.
I would recommend this outfitter. If I could afford to, I'd go back year after year. If ya want more info., PM me!
By the way, I ended up with a 65.5" moose

Ah, I would LOVE to do an Alaskan/Yukon moose hunt. 65.5" that is amazing. I bet you look at that and smile every time. I know I would.

The problem with a DIY hunt is that by the time you get all the gear for it, you've spent as much as you would have on an outfitter and you have all the headache of having to run the camp and try to hunt with none of the resources to prescout or move if necessary.

What do you need howler ,I did it three time and have a 58"er on the wall and a bou.I'll loan you anything you need. I did all DIY ,twice I hired a bush plane,they call them taxis.It will cost about $3,000 for the tags ,airfair and taxi.You pay that weather you hire a guide or not.But I must say It's a lot of work and I mean for days.Other then the work it's like going camping anywhere else.If you need anything let me know.What I cann't loan you and You must have is a hunting buddy or two.{packers}
