I've seen that video before several times but how nobody was hurt is still amazing to me no matter how many times I see it

No one was shot!!!That is fracked up at the least.I can't believe the mistakes and carelessness of that.If the lion was just over a bit more,He would of ripped that guys head completely off his body.I would never hunt dangerous game without a semi chopped down 12 loaded to the hilt with 00 shot Maybe consider slugs all so.Them *Deleted* are some of the luckiest people not to been maimed or killed.I thought it was illegal to hunt lions any more? It all so looked like a pen.

Most of us saw this a year ago and fell into 2 camps. I am in the "wish the lion ate the guy camp." The disscusion was about canned hunting. This lion is shot inside a fenced ranch.

Regardless which camp one fell into, one fact remains....
Canned hunt, fenced area, lots of hunters, lots of guns, hunters got to make the first move....
and the lion STILL almost won the day,

A very worthy adversary, even with the odds all stacked in ones favor.

EKM this is one thing we will agree on.

I think I first saw this clip five years ago or so, still pretty amazing to watch.

Hate to say it but I felt bad watching it seeing those fences and knowing that lion had nowhere to run. There is something to be said for "Fair Chase". Just don't feel it sheds a good light on hunting but that's just an opinion...

Maybe I'm totally wrong, and I'm not quite sure where to look for the final answer to this, but I was to understand that this was a problem lion and they were dispatched to take care of him. Anyone know? If it truly was a cannedhunt, then I am definately against it. There mightbe a reason somewhere for them, but I don't believe this was one of them.

I have to believe this is a canned hunt. If it was a problem lion, there are much easier ways to deal with the animal.

cheers,

Most African hunts are done in fenced areas. The fences just encoumpass 30,000 or 50,000 acres. That is no joke however. They are "game ranches" just like here, but the size makes it "fair chase" in my opinion.

What the he!! is fair chase about shooting a lion in a pen or any animal for that matter.Look in the back ground the lion is walking down a fence ,after he a$$ shoots it and it charges you can see the poles with lights on them so they can shoot in the dark !

Its a shame the cat didn't draw a little more blood or at least a couple of the morons involved could have gut shot each other.

Its really a shame that a$$clowns like these live long enough to breed. [:'(]

Fair chase in a pen thats a good one!!!!!!!!!

50,000 acres is not a pen. That's what? 100 square miles? No one here has any idea what went down on that hunt other than the final two minutes.

I saw that hunt a year ago too. I believe it is a canned hunt too as the shooter has a video out where he travels all over hunting big game witha bottomless wallet. Like stated; unbelieveable no one was shot.

Doesn't really matter if that enclosure is 50,000 acres he couldn't go through that fence to get away.

I'll second that hardcorehunter, the bullets were flying and I wouldn't want to get hit with one of those African Lion Cannons!!

I'm with bawanajim on this one.
Who said it was 50,00 acres anyways? The cat is still backed up to a fence right. If its the same as free renge why bother spend all the bucks on a fence?

As a lawyer you use the word" hunt "very different than the Webster definition.

Of course another lawyer wanted to argue what the definition of ' IS ' is remember him. OH yea O.J. was framed too!!

Watch the video look at the poles watch the actions of these idiots. If you want to argue with me pick some thing that is worth defending .Then bring it on.

You should never shoot any animal that you don't intend to eat!

furgitter 01-01-2007 08:12 PM

RE: Lion mishap, almost disaster

Im not into the head collecting thing, unless im eating the animal too,but dont get too general with the eating part.I trap alot of animals that i dont eat. However if i see a use for them i will take them apart and use glands, fur, skulls, etc.Even if its easier and cheeper to buy the stuff.I think its because i grew up in the late 60s and had to make alot of our stuff.we didnt have any money so if you wanted it,you made it.
