I use a piece of vacuum cleaner hose about 17 inches long,I wrapped it with camo material sewed up the middle and used electrical tape on the ends with an old boot lace tied on the ends to carry it with.Called in a bunch of bulls with it.

Alright, Elkshed! My favorite bugle call is a piece of electrical conduit with a wooden plug in one end.

It seems there was some confusion about the Carlton tube, that's what I use is the Carlton's grunt tube. I would agree with IdahoElkInstructor that the diaphrams and the callerare whatreally make the sweet elk sounds, the tube just amplifies it.

I like Primos calls a lot but their bugle was designed to be easy to use and to be realistic enough. In other words it was made for the masses to sell as many as they could. I've never liked external reeds for bugles although the Primos bugle isn't bad, just average though. To get real elk sounds you need the diaphrams like you said.

The diaphrams that work best are different for each individual. The size and shape are the biggest factors. I've got my favorites and I usually trim the edges to fit my mouth best.
