RE: Elk season dates & the full moon phase
Maybe it's just elk in our area but full moon is like taking candy from a baby. The elk like Elknut said stay up late feeding and in our case are always slow to go to the bedding areas giving you alot of stalking time. But that tends to make the elk come out almost at dark beyond legal shooting times. But elk in pressured areas are going to be very hard to time outside of timbered areas in a full moon phase. I say bring on the moon and the snow just leave the hot and dry at home. That's win you earn your stripes as an elk hunter hunting hot and dry.

I too don't worry about the moon, I agree with elknut and elkcrazy8. I hunt every second I can be it moon or no moon!;)

RE: Update
So how many of you hunt during the muzzleloader season? Does that change your ways or weeks?
thanks for your thoughts. |

RE: Update
It would depend on when the muzzle loader season is, if it is during the september rut, as we have here in Idaho in some units, I would hunt just as I do with the bow.
