We're in the midst of the elk season now.... this thread started out with:

There is a poll going for your favorite cartridge that you have killed elk with ,but I am curious as to how many elk you have actually killed and with which cartridges.Personally,I have killed 15 elk,one with the 257wby,five with the 7mmstw and nine with the 300ultramag.
Any new takers?

Three with a .270 WBY Mag. One with a .300 WBY mag. One with a .338 Win Mag. One with a 6.5mm x .284. One with a .260 Rem. Two with a .284 Win. Two with a 7mm-08 Rem. One with a .308 Win.

I like the 7mm-08 in cover (up to 250 yards or so) and the .270 Wby Mag in open country. Both are fairly pleasant to shoot at the range...which means lots of practice, great accuracy...and no flinch.

My hubby has taken 3 with his trusty 30-06.
This year, his new 300 Ultra-Mag was successful also.

don't see too many elk running around here in Florida but if i did see one, i wouldn't be afraid or lack the confidence of dropping an elk like wet laundry with the drop of my .25-06 hammer....

No theory, just experience.
