Sambar Hound Hunting has finally started.
Hey all, new member from australia, found your site to be one of the biggest so thought i would join up and show the world our style of hunting
First week out to the start of the season, the beagles went great and we knocked this small stag over in a couple of hours, the bloke in the photo is his first ever deer so he was totally pumped..]
cheers Josh

Nice Stag, we have an island here in Florida (St Vincent Island) that has Sambar & a draw hunt for them every year. We are not allowed to use dogs & the must use bow or muzzleloader only. But with all said it's a good hunt & the price is right if you live in Florida & want to hunt Sambar.
I went 2 years ago & did not take one myself but did see a nice 6 point a younger stag & a Hind taken by others.

Hunter here is all the info. Good luck on the draw it's tuff, I know people that have been applying for years & years & never got drawn. I apply every year what the hell it's only $15 if you get it & cost nothing to try.

Hunt year around!! That's some kind of nice!!
The area in youer pic looks like a good place for Sambar, I've always been told if your feet are not wet & the brush real thick your in the wrong spot.

I like that Aussie camo! Just kidding.
So you use beagles to get them moving in the thick stuff? Just curious, how large a pack?
The young guy looks very happy with his first deer. That doesn't change much continent to continent! Thanks for sharing.

we wear anything we like down here, camo does help but when hunting with hounds and multiple shooters we like to wear colours that stand out, i wear a yellow jumper all the time, others wear orange etc..
pack size is normally around 6 beagles
