Default Bear Broadheads?

I will be hunting black bears in Canada this year for the first time. What broadheads do you recommend?

A 125 Thunderhead works well for us.

Most fixed heads such as TH's, Muzzy, Talons, etc will get it done. I personally prefer a COC style head now like a magnus stinger, steelforce, etc. Especially if your shooting a lighter arrow and BH. If you go with a COC look for models that have a bleeder blade vs just 2 blade. The biggest problem with bear is hair plugging the wound channel, my experience with most 2 blades is weaker bloodtrail, just as effective though. I'll assume you'll be hunting over bait, which means evening sits and the possibility of shooting in low light..so in this case abetter bloodtrail is nice.

I am not much for mechanicals.

Anything that you'd use on whitetail will work fine on black bear, just make sure it's SHARP --->

Never had much luck with muzzy on bears.
To small a hole.
I have lost 2-3 bear because the hole pluged up and lost the blood trail.
Sad thang is I know the bear died.

What??? you can't remember if you lost 2 or 3 bear. You might consider your shot placement as part of your problem!

I do know, that after losing two or three bear I finally wisened up and changed to a broadhead with a bigger cutting diameter.
The last bear I lost was a surelung shot.

Just curious lb911, what broadhead do you usually use? Model, weight, etc.
