Bowman-Three of us are looking for exact same and price. Were thinking BC but I think prices are about twice this. I did a bear hunt in Idaho but dogs were used if that is of interest. The cost was very low and hunting was good but camp was really stinky. We didn't shower for 8 days and the dogs smelled better. We like to rough it but are thinking of a stalk or bait hunt. Let me know what you hear.

Take a look at Newfoundland. They have some large bears there and you can either hunt in spring over bait or spot and stalk in the fall. I think you will find something in your price range. A friend got back the end of Sept from a caribou hunt. He took a bear in the 425 to 500 pound range. Should make the books.

Glen is right. Most of the BC hunts cost quite a bit more than central Canada. The good hunts in Manitoba and Saskatchewan start at about $1,900. Ontario and the U.S. are a little less, but you're likely looking at smaller bears. If you combined forces with Glen, you may be able to book a whole camp for a week, and save a few bucks. Good luck.

Those are some great bears at Lost River with pricing that sounds reasonable. I'm an archery hunter from Kansas, and was wondering what kinds of success hunters have had with swamp hunts (over on the other board). Maybe this isn't the proper post/board for the question, just wondered if their are lots of success stories or horror stories from swap hunts. I'm primarily interested in quality elk hunting and bear hunting. Any thoughts?

My buddies and I have deciced to try to book a bear hunt for next year but are really having trouble deciding on a good place that will fit into everybody's price range for a good hunt. What we have kind of decided is that about 1500 is the max we would spend on an outfitter/per person. Is this reasonable to get a quality hunt and has anyone on here been somewhere they would like to recommend. Thanks Brian.
p. s. this would be a bow hunt
