RE: Ultimate Dangerous Game Rifle
Tom,
Don't get upset.
Simply the wrong venue for such a question.
Try:
http://www.accuratereloading.com
Do a Search re DGR's and African Hunting & you should find it.
Otherwise, go to"African Hunting" section and post.
Good luck.

RE: Ultimate Dangerous Game Rifle
If were to build myself a dangerous game rifle it would have the following features.
Bolt action
Push feed design. I choose this for two reasons. #1 I have tried to get a push feed to not feed and I find them every bit as reliable as a controled round feed. #2. If, for some stupid reason, I empty the gun and I am still in danger but not yet dead I can drop a round and chamber it with our having to push it into the magazine first.
Cartridge would likely be either a 458 Lott or a 470 Capstick.
Barrel length would be 24 inches.
Iron sights would be a Marbles universal for the rear with the large peep apreture and front sight would be a hooded and banded ramp with a white bead sight.
Metal finish would be fine bead blasted and parkerized.
Scope would be a 1-5X42 mounted with Talley QR rings and bases.
Stock would definetly be a nicely figured walnut. Hand rubbed oil satin finish or permalyn satin finish. Shaped to fit me with a roll over cheek piece & Pachmyer decelerator pad

RE: Ultimate Dangerous Game Rifle
Hi Tom:
DGR rifles span the gamut from useless to useful. If I were looking for the "ultimate" DGR, it would be 500 NE (470 NE min), in a double. The .375 is never going to be the "ultimate" DGR, nor is .416, .458 et al. Call Butchand have him make you the ultimate DGR.
