Gunnison area CO Weather
#1
Hey guys, I am heading out to CO from MN/WI on Wednesday for an elk hunt. Going to the Gunnison area (Unit 55). Just want to know what the weather and road conditions look like. I have hunted this area for the last 4 years, so I know the general temp. Looking to find out more how much snow is out there to figure out what gear to bring for the amoount of snow. we will be at around 12,000 feet.

I'd say prepare for snow. I know up here in the northern part of Colorado we've had snow at the higher elevations already. it actually snowed last week pretty good at about 7000 Feet were I was at, but it didnt last long though. Everyone around here seems to think we will have a bad winter this year.

Buck Knife,
I am headed out to Unit 55 for the 3rd Rifle season in November. This will be my first trip out to CO for Elk so I would love to hear a report when you get back.
Regards,
Steve

Good Luck on your hunt, make sure you post some photo's for us when you return. I'm going third season unit 34, couple years ago they had to call in the national guard to get some of the hunters out due to the snow. So my father is hoping he will get a ride in the chopper. I am on the other hand not wishing for that.
