RE: Unit 51 NM
I had a bull elk hunt in Unit 51. Didn't see any elk at all. They had a bear hunt with hounds at same time, andscared all the elk away. Just for my curiosity where is it? Is it around "Trout Lakes"? Thanks.

Sorry you didn't see any elk. Good to hear it was bear hunters scaring off the elk and not the locals. I could tell you a lot about the locals. One guy shot 31 elk from the road and just left them. No respect for their own wild animals, it's nausiating! Yes, you turn off of 84 onto 125, after about 1.5 miles there is a turnoff to the right, that is 124, go about 2 miles up that curvey road and its through the woods on the left. There is no way you could find it on your own if you didn't already know were it was. It is a very small spring that used to feed a livestock tank. The metaltank has rusted out and doesn't hold water. The spring also runs less than it used to. I have walked to the spring one time with someone who knew were it was and showed me.Were did you camp/rv? How many days did you hunt? Rifle tag? Were are you from? If turkey springs was aflowing creek it would run downhill rightthrough my land! It is amazing to me that someone on thiswebsite was asking about something so close to my property! Unit 51 can be a good place to hunt but that area around my land/ turkey springs has some serious mountain lion! I know were one den is that has predator carcuses everywere. Bobcat, coyote everywere! I can send or post pics if you like. Its a spooky place that I have never run into in all my timehiking/hunting/camping.
