Default Got Lucky today

Just when I thought Hurricane Trina put a damper on my hunting,I got a call from the Highway patrol, they had several bisons on the Florida turnpike that belong to this Doctor, they did not want to shoot one bigone that went into a neighborhood and was causing problem for the neighbors, imagine being held hostage in your home by a bison ?

The Highway patrol wanted me to tranquilize the Bison, butI didn't have the right dose for such a big critter,I told them I could kill it with a bow, the captain who is my customer and knows I have killed many big game with a longbow said Ok, they had already shot two on the highway, but didn't want to shoot in the residence with some many houses and kids watching.

Some of the Cops laughed when they saw me get off the SUV with my 6 foot longbow,I got to 15 yards of the Bison behind someones yard and took my shot with my #70 longbow and 28 inch draw with self made bamboo arrows with turkey vanes 145 gr Grizzleys, I hit right target behind the left front leg.
All the cops scattered thinking that had being a bad idea, the Bison turned and walked 15 yards and droped his hind legs and sat there for a few minutes then fell over, he was dead 3 minutes later.
The Processing place said there is 800 lbs of meat, big sucker. It will be donated to homeless shelters.

All I heard was Wow ! one cop said I didn't think an arrow could do that !

WhenI told him an arrow could probably penetrate the vest he was wearing, he opened his eyes and said man ,I'll never mess with Bowhunters again,LOL.

Probably penetrate the vest? How about definitely penetrate the vest! Arrows, knives, and the like go through vests easily. The bullets shape and consistency have a lot to do with the way that they get stopped in a vest, and a pointy sharp projectile usually scoots right through.

-when i was 7 yrs old my dad and uncle were raising pigs, the last one got out one day and wouldnt let us out of our car for 2 1/2 hrs. shortly after he dressed out @ 575lbs. He was a big pig. One day i'll never forget!

Too bad they didn't let you do a shoulder mount. That would make for a good conversation piece over your mantel.
