.25-06 for mule deer?
I've used this cartridge to takea few whitetails in michigan and I wonder if anyone would hesitate to use it on mule deer. I'll be hunting in montana and the shots may be long. I took an antelope at 425 yards a couple years back. I practiced shooting long range for that hunt and I'm confident in my ability to hit what I shoot at. I just wonder if it will have enough energy at 400yds to cleanly kill a bigger animal? My hunting partners think I should take my .300 win. but I'm much more confident with the .25-06. What do you guys think of using 115gr ballistic tips? I have a few boxes left. I also thought of using triple shocks or maybe the new accubond 110gr.

the 25-06 will definately do the trick on muleis, but the 300 would do it with style to spare:D.

Thanks for the reassurance!!
What about bullets? I have a good load worked up with 115gr nbt and I have a few boxes of these so I would like to use them. |

Use them up. They are an excelent bullet for light skinned deer sized game animals.

I would use the .300 over the 25-06 but that is just me... Use what you feel more comfortable using.

Mule deer are a bit larger but your 2506 is plenty. If you are in wide open country and could be shooting long distance you will be happier with the .300 bullet weight. I've had my 2506 stop on a shoulder blade at a little past 500 yrds.
