That's the perfect cartrige for mule deer. I DON'T hesitate to use my 25 on elk. It has taken many and will take more even though I have 2 300's setting next to it.

I would avoid the ballistic tips. They fragment excessively if you hit a rib or any bone. Load some partitions for your 25-06 and good hunting.

I'm with Shato on the ballistic tips especially in fast calibers. Okay now people are scared to shoot long range at deer with a 25-06 they need a 300win to have confidence? First off back in the day the 25-06 was built for one purpose long range flat hunting cartridge and they didn't have coyotes in mind. So what has changed over the years the cartridge didn't but the mind set did right? I won't ragon but for god sakes its now taking a 300 win to kill a deer at 500yds get real people and learn how to really shoot your rifle instead of relying on ft lbs.
