Nope, there has never been a grizzly killed with a 30-06. The bullets from a 30-06 bounce off their hide.[8D] Beat you to it manboy.

Just about every big game animal if not every big game animal has been taken with a 30-06. Thats what I shoot.

The 30-06 shoots the same bullet as the 300 Winchester Magnum, just a few feet per second slower. I know that thousands of grizzlies have been killed over the years with the .300 Winchester Magnum and no one would dispute it as a grizz killer. I don't see why more people don't use the 30-06 on big bears? I would probably want bigger power against polar bears or big coastal brownies or kodiaks, but for your everyday grizz I think the '06 is just fine.

When I say "everyday" grizz...I mean an average sized one. No one would hesitate to pull the trigger of an '06 on a 500 pound blackie, why should it be different on a 500 pound grizz?

No, I have not killed a grizzly with a 30-06. I have never even hunted Grizzly bears.

In 1986 I had the opportunity to hunt Bella Cola, British Columbia for the big bear. A 7mm Rem. Mag. was the minimum the caliber set by my guide. After reading the material he sent and many articles on the bears, I settled for a 375 H&H Mag. with 270 gr. psp and a 300 gr. solid as backup. I did get my bear and was very, very happy on my caliber selection.
