If you want to DIY without a guide & you do not care if you kill a monster?
Hunt public land. IMHO Mule Deer are over rated & hunts are over priced. BIG mule deerbucks are smart. Younger mule deer bucks & doesare stupid & easy to kill.

good luck,

It depends what you consider a reasonable price.I have gone with an outfitter and have also tried the DIY method on blm land.Of course the DIY is the cheapest but not always the most succesful. If you are willing to pay the price with an outfitter it will cost you around 3 grand minimum. If you do your homework and study the maps available there is alot of land open to the public. Most of the BLM land is dry sage areas. There are deer but not the numbers found on ranches with alfalfa, water, etc.
I am going to Wyoming this october and already made arrangents with a rancher in the Sheridan area. The cost is 1,000 bucks if I shoot a deer, free if I dont.He says they are crawling with deer,I hope so!
The state of Wyoming will send a list of land owners that allow hunting either for a fee or otherwise.I made lots of calls before finding this ranch. Most ranchers already lease to outfitters or have return clients every year,so its tough to find someone but not impossible. If you have more ?'s send me a message and I'll try to help direct you.

I just checked this site hunting net/ hunts and outfitters and theres a colorado landowner tag for $450 + licence, thats the best deal I've seen this year, you don't need a ranch theres plenty of public land, just do your homework
