What has been your most common shooting position for rifle elk?
I'd like to know what has been your most common shooting position for killing elk in the past. I have been at the range and practicing many different shooting positions and would like to know what most of you have used in elk country. Off-hand, sitting, kneeling, prone, using shooting sticks, using trees and rocks.

of the 13 that I have shot: 2 were off hand, 4 were sitting using my knees to steady on, and all the others shots I used a tree to lean on!

All mine and my sons (eight) have been sitting across our knees except for one. I am surprisingly as good sitting off knees as I am prone, but obvoiously not as good as the one I took off a boulder rest from one knee. Wish I could do 'em all off that solid of rest at that height.
If I'm in the open with no aid, sitting is preferable to prone or kneeling, or obviously standing. I gave up practicing prone even off a bipod because it seems like I'm always in too tall of grass. I mess around way too much trying to get the bipod prone position and almost always lose the shot. Then I have to sit and take a shot I haven't practiced enough. This year I'm going to do lots of sitting practice, off knees and off a pack frame.
