My seasons open the 1st... Supposed to be a hot week. I typically try to get out in the morning at least of the first day, then I wait until it cools off some. Maybe I'll get a few thursday morning though.

Four more this morning!

Daggum Longhunter, you're on a roll.

I know I said I would be out this weekend come hell or high water, but as it turns out both seemed to strike me. The hell came from some kind of illness that kept me bedridden all Saturday, and the high water came from a torrential rainstorm that I later discovered flooded the entryways into some of my good spots.

Longhunter should be a team all to himself...:hail:

VA season comes in this saturday Sept. 3rd I'll wait till it gets cooler, like 60-70"s. I only shoot what I eat, which is about 16 or so for the season, depending on the populations where I hunt.

Are you finding any warbles in the grays? I have noticed they tend to effect grays an for some reason not fox squirrels. I have never found any in a fox squirrel here abouts.

Warbles

Someone else recently ask me the same thing, I have been hunting squirrels for over fourty years and not once have I ever found one on a squirrel. I have seen them so ate up with fleas that they looked like they had the mange but I've never found a warble.

Warbles are bad here in grays until after a couple of frost in October. Wonder if humidity has anything to do with it? July/August have been almost unbearable with humidity this year. I'm glad its almost over!!

I can vouch for this. Saw one so ate up w/them last year, at the local park, even, that I wondered if was going to survive. Young squirrel walking like a highly arthritic person.

I shot 2 with warbles early last season, but never in previous years.
