Glad to hear that some of you guys are about to be able to hit the woods with guns loaded! I suffered a minor knee injury last night (dislocation) that may limit my mobile style in the woods. Had to hobble to a setup this morning, and heard/saw nothing. It'll come around, and I'll still be heading out. Best of luck to all!

I got a copper pot call from firelt in the mail yesterday...all that I can say is that if any of you fellas are even remotely in the market for a new pot call, you need to get one from him. Sounds phenomenal! Very high quality product.

Good luck Treebeard! Today's opener in CT was less than phenomenal. I had one gobbling on the roost, but he was roosted on the other side of the property line. He flew down and stayed on the other side. Couldn't strike another bird on the property, tried another spot. I ran into another hunter who had permission on that property, he hadn't heard or seen anything. I tried some blind calling and nada, zip, zippo pretty much sums it up. The landowner's daughter said she's seen some birds behind her mom's house yesterday though, so I'll have to get there before sun-up and check things out. Back to work the rest of this week, I'll give it another go on Saturday.

Hey gang we had a hoot today!
Sparked off a crow call half a hour before sunrise and................nothing!
We always have gobbles on this stand it is fool proof
Called again then switched to a gobbler call still nothing
The pit in my stomach started to grow as we set ourselves up in the spot we see birds every time but no cover to get them!
We brushed in a ground blind a month ago and hoped for the best
I picked up my old faithful box call pretty simple and gave a couple of light purrs
Did I hear that right it sounded like a hen?
I looked to Adam for confirmation and he shrugged
Again I purred
A gobble went off behind us way way back in the woods
I picked up the gobbler call and again he responded back
I turned to face that direction said to my brother get ready
A couple more purrs and the gobbles got closer
All of a sudden four young Jakes come screaming out of the woods into the field and right at our struttin Jake and four hens decoy set up!
They covered so much ground so fast they were like a youth gang lol
My brother said they are Jakes wanna take em?
Oh ya we did and that was our very first double
Not much of birds but that was one of my best hunts I was shaking like a virgin on prom night lol
Nothing better than hunting with your best bud and having moments like that!
Sorry for the poor score but it is a great day
By the way 34 mins on opening day is a good day!!!!

Took daughter out opening morning and she scored he first bird ever. 15lb Jake she was thrilled. 17 y/o that has shot a bow for years, but used her brothers 20g. The heavy blend did it's job at 22yds.
