Well no luck for me on opening weekend! I went to my favorite spot saturday and sat for about three hrs. I didn't hear any gobbling at all but I managed to call in a few hens and watched them for a few mins before they wandered off. Today I went to a new spot that I've had luck deer hunting a few years in a row now but never hunted turkey there. I remember seeing some a few different times on my way in to hunt in the fall but it was usually on private land. I got there nice and early, the crows and owls started going off all around me and I thought for sure any minute I would hear one gobble, but once again nothing. I did manage to see a few hens from the road on my drive back home. Trying a few different spots next weekend maybe things will work out better. Goodluck to those still hunting.
Snapper, Congrats on tagging out, and getting another nice bird

Great ending there for ya snapper! Are you sure that bird doesn't have 2 beards braided together? Man, that beard is thick!!
j, it was 1 of those hunts that any other time I would've wrapped my gun around a tree. But, I seen alot of birds today, still getting some birds on camera and I have not seen any hunters around. So there is still some hope. I may even try waiting for a mid-morning hunt. The one that gobbled while I was detecting was around 10:30. Oh and to be honest, I forgot to go back and dig what I was suppose to.
DTC, I was going to ask you today if you were still planning on hunting up here. Thats too bad it didn't work out for ya.
Al, where there are hens there are gobblers. At least I'd hope
The last few times I've been out, they have very limited talking goin on. And once they hit the ground its suprising if they chat. You just started so you have plenty of time.
Phil, see what happens when you give everyone else a hard time
Don't give up yet, we need your birds!

I will be back at it again and again until I score at least 1 bird! Then I will be looking for bird #2 LOL .. This guy will not give up until I either tag out or the season ends. By the way I have found 2 different dusting areas that I have only called by one of them. Lots of gobbling at that one. But, I am going to wait it out some more before trying to nail a bird at them. They are not being pressured and 1 of them I doubt will ever get pressured because of where it is located at. I still wanna get to blast a cap on one of those big ones I had been seeing earlier f I can.

I am still around, and routing for Phil and Al and Mottz and anyone else still hunting.
j76 we know you tried your best and hunted hard. You have a good attitude and those turkeys had better look out next year. You will be after them hard next year.
Nice job Snapper.
I know this is a cliche but, Thats why they call it hunting and not turkey killing. Unless your dtc and jr.

Thanks John, hate to not be able to contribute to the team score, but was a pretty fun season anyways. It's also been a great year in this contest, very cool to have all the participation from the team that we've had.
Good luck this weekend Al! Go get em Phil!

LOL. I must say I was guilty also about dishin out some crap. What you don't know is the reason why. These contests always are alot of fun especially when a team can throw each other some harassment. The thing I hate about these contests are I see everyone else puttin some animals down and I can never catch a break. So, in order to hide my frustration and being ticked off at myself, I try to find humor in things. And now since I got that skunk stripe off my back for once, I get to take not so deep breaths and relax and have a little more fun. And of course, pick on you Phil

Good Luck everyone who is still out there hunting..
