RE: Team 20

Thanks for the nomination guys. I'll be glad to lead us to victory in this war [8D]

Just a little diddy 'bout myself...

I grew up in Central NY, where I began chasing longbeards. I then went to CT, where it took me 9 years to complete my MS and PhDs in Animal Science. During those years, I truly mastered the art of hunting longgbeards, and harvested 6 birds that scored between 65-75. CT is really a hidden gem in the NorthEast, and holds some absolute monsters on private lands...

After completing the PhD, I took a position here in Oregon. Packed up the family---wife, 7 year old daughter and 2 year old son---and have had a blast the past 14 months. This will be my first foray after these western birds, but I've secured permission on private lands in some of the state's best turkey hunting. If I don't go broke ($18 each tag plus GAS), I may get the chance to harvest three this year. I'm really going to try for a Merriam's in the NE corner of the state, where the only chance of harvesting a true Merriam in Oregon is still possible. I'm also hoping to bag a whopper of a Rio in the SW portion of the state...a young kid landed one of the largest Rios on record there about 3 years ago.

It's a little different out here in the Pacific NW, especially OR. In CT and NY, I could travel 5 min and be on a 300 acre farm. Here, it's travel at least 2 hr to get to anywhere huntable, and a good 5-8 hr trek if I want to be in the pristine turkey woods. But hey, it is what it is ;)

As for the name, because we had a few votes for a few names, I chose..."Strut's Wingbone Brigade"...

I have been chasing long beards for 22 seasons counting this up coming season i have been involved in 28 harvests in alabama and indiana. the last 5 years i have been hunting with my bow exclusivly however if hunting with a gun could have harvested up to8 birds ( 1 miss,2 deer busting me, being caught by the birds 2 times and hanging up out of bow range 3 times) but that is called hunting. I do take friends and family in which most of the 28 birds were harvested by them. I enjoy hunting public lands once you harvest abird on public land the you've accomplished something good luck to my other team members
