Guys, I finally connected. I never thought I was going to get this bird, but I finally did. Went out this morning and didn't hear a thing as usual. This bird hasn't been gobbling for over two weeks because he has been hunted hard by myself and two or three other hunters on a club that borders my land. Everytime you called to this bird he would shut up and go the oter way. As usual I go out and don't call and just listen. I set up where we had our last encountera couple of weeks ago.about 8:00. I made a four note yelp and low and behold he gobbled, but just once. I wait a while and nothing. I made another short series of light yelps and nothing. Here we go again I thought. I just knew he was going to do his usual routine.I sat there for a little while longer when I catch movement in the corner of my eye. There he is, strutting and coming right at me. Only problem is, he is to my right, so I'm stuck there with my gun on my knee watching him. To make a long story short, he finally comes a little more in front of me, and when he goes behind a tree I shoulder my gun. I drop him at 25 yards. He was a nice three year old bird that weighed 20.6 pounds and had matching 1 inch spurs. His score is 58.375.I'll attempt to get the pictures up later today. I've never tried it, so bear with me. I'm going back to Tennessee the first weekend of May, so maybe I can score on another. BTW, congrats Maglite on an awesome bird.

I forgot to mention my birds beard length. His beard was 9 inches.

I'm trying to get pictures of my bird put up, but for some reason my computer is not letting me do it. I will keep on trying. I will eventually figure it out. I'll get them up as soon as I can. As you can figure out, I am not a computer wiz.

Nice bird superstrutter! I'll post the score so it'll be added to our team total.

I'll be heading to southern Indiana this morning when I get off work. Going to hit it hard for nine days. My dad took one this morning and said he had 12 gobblers all around him.

Good luck 2 Lunger and to the rest of the team. I think I am finished for the season. My season is now closed in Louisiana and I don't think I'm going back to Tennessee. My friend said the birds are just not doing anything this year up there. He went a couple of times this week and didn't hear or see a thing. I'm just glad I was able to finally get that one bird on my place. I'm not going to put my things up just yet though, I have been known to change my mind. Keep the birds coming team. We've got some catching up to do.

Well yesterday was my opener, no luck. I heard between 10-12 different birds. I heard 4 gobble off of roost then nothing for a while. From 7:30-9 the birds were going crazy! I was working two birds at the same time for about 30 min. one was about 200yds to my right and one was about 300 yardy to my left. Im not sure what happened but at 9 all the birds just shut up, even the two i was working. I did not hear a single gobble the rest of the morning. My uncle had the same thing happen to him. Oh well I will be back out there on sunday and monday. Sucks i cant be there all weekent but im away at school and I have a rugby game on saturday. Good luck everyone!

Guys, my season will close this next Wednesday. I may get to go once more. It'll be the first year in the last five that I haven't gotten a bird. I'm getting ready to move to FL and just haven't had the time to go. It's killing me. I did more preseaon scouting than ever before and have spent less time in the woods than ever. It's really killing me.

Good luck guys and congrats to the contributors for our team.

I'm sorry Arjuna. We all prepare and have high expectations for the coming season, and sometimes things just don't work out. It's happened to most of us. This season was definately not what I expected. I had really high expectations for this season.Rain, wind, cold weather, and unexpected pressure have all affected my season. I was really fortunate (lucky) to get a bird this season. Maybe you will have a good weekend to finish it off. The good thing is , there is always next year.
