Maglite, your post reminded me of one of the guys that contaminated me with the disease of turkey hunting. He used to come back from a good hunt talking about those "trashy hens." He loved to hate them. Enjoy the woods. Hunt safe. Have a good time. Maybe, if your lucky enough you can kill a turkey. Good luck and God bless.

I'm back from Georgia with no good news. We located a couple of birds but soon after first light they flew across the river and were gone. Didn't see or hearany others either. Pretty disappointing. Anyway, our season opens in a couple of weeks and hopefully things will change! Simp

Okay, it's my turn to cry. The bird I have been hunting for over a year, whom I affectionally called "Loudmouth", was killed this past Thursday morning by a guy on a club that borders my land. What really pisses me off is I'm 99.9% sure this guy killed him in his roost tree. I heard him shoot, and it was waytoo early for them to be off roost. I was listening to another bird still on roost when I heard the shot. It was barely light enough to see. Of course when I talked to him he said he was on the ground. In Louisiana,as long as you shoot the bird within the legal shooting hours you can shoot them on their roost, but it's not right in my opinion. I didn't question him or push the issue. The bird wasn't on my land, so there's nothing I could say, but I'm still a little upset. That's the only way this guy was ever going to kill this bird. He was a wise old bird and I was looking forward tochasing him this year. I knew this bird better than anyone, and this yahoo shoots him out of a tree. I left a bird gobbling on my place Friday morning that wouldn't work,to sit and watch it rain in Tenn. this weekend. I hope he is still around. Needless to say, my first Tenn. trip was a washout. I'm going back next week to hunt forfour days. I hope the weather is kinder then. It hasn't been a very good start this season. The good news is it can only get better, right?

BTW, "Loudmouth" weighed 21 pounds, had a 10 and 7/8 inch beard, and both spurs were 1 inch.

Thought I'd breath some life into our thread. I've been seeing really good birds and it seems as they're starting to get fired up here. Definitely broken up into groups of hens and boss toms. Can't wait!
