RE: team 19 check in
Nice birds Mferman! Way to get on the board, good luck in SD. I won't get there until May 6th or so. Where are you hunting out there?
Got back from west TX on Monday. Literally shot a last minute gobbler. Hunted hard for 3 solid days. Tons of jakes and hens but the big boys were staying qiet and hidden. This was happening so much that there was a large newspaper article about it in the Amarillo Sunday sports section. I had plenty of turkey action, got to hear tons of great hen talk real close up (sometimes as close as 5-10 feet) and got 'attacked' 2 times by what I referred to as a 'ravenous band of veloci-jakes'.............they would come in a running and just swarm into the hens aroundme and then run away again. I am also very sorry to report that I missed one of theseveloci-jakes on two different ocassions................lesson learned - don't try to shoot a a moving jake if he is really moving, and, if you do shoot at one make sure thatthe wood is on the wood...............I plumb picked my head WAY up both times to try to 'see' better. Bad plan. Anyways it all came togetherthe last 30 minutes of the 4th day, a mere 15 minutes before I had it figured that I had to skin out of there and head for the airport!
I'll post the pics I have soon.
Work is swamping my but now cause I've been out turkey hunting two times in the past 4 weeks.
Anybody else having any luck?
Stay patient forall of you that are still waiting - andthevery best to you for an excellent experience, and a SAFE ONE!!
My bird was a Rio, I'll post the score here for fun but it won't come close to the GA bird I got.
Hope to talk more here now that I am around for a few weeks!

You might be hunting in the snow. Stutters in the snow just doesn't seem right to me. Our youth season opens Saturday and it is going to be cold and nasty here. It's going to feel more like deer season than turkey season.

Success in South Dakota
Here is my Merriam from today here in South Dakota. Here are the numbers:
23 lbs.
1 inch spurs
3 beards - 8 3/4; 5; 4 1/8
Not sure how to score the triple beard?
