I will start. I am Dave Wilson, am 48 yrs young [8D], I live and will be hunting this year in NE Missouri.I have been hunting since I was about 12 and turkey hunting for about 15 years. I work in the hunting industry and do carpentry work when I am not busy with that. If anyone has any questions, by all means ask. If you don't ask, you won't know.

RE: Team 2 Sign In...

tschaef checkin in from Southern Ontario.

My name is Trevor, I'm an in-situ remediation specialist for a large environmental consulting firm, I work with my hands and am on the road alot. I'm 35 years old but have only been hunting turkeys for about 5yrs. Wild turkeys were re-introduced up here about 15-20 yrs ago, its been a massive success, but this has been a horrible winter for them so we'll see how it goes.

I nominate deerdust (Dave) for captain.

Edit: I just read the rules where it says kills will be posted on our team thread so I removed the pic of me and an older kill from this post.

My name's Greg and I'm 37.I'm in South Carolina andjust a 2nd year newbie to hunting altogether. I'm an Account Mgr. for a beverage company, so I'm able to get done early during the day and hunting around my house allows me to have more time in the woods than most people. To give you guys some background info, I never wanted to hunt. My sister and brother in law wanted to take my son hunting, but my brother in law was killed in a car accident with a deer on Sept 1st 2006. I started hunting on Thanksgiving of 06 because I wanted my son toget a chanceto hunt. He wanted to deer hunt, I wanted to turkey hunt. On Sept 2nd 2007 I got our first deer, and got it with a bow. We got our only turkey 11days into our first hunting season. It was a jake, but we had no experience at all. I'm usually one that picks up on things quickly, Ibought my bow in August and had my deer three weeks later,so we're expecting to top last year's harvests. With some luck and effort, we're hoping to use a few more tags this year.

Hello fellow team mates
I'm Richard D Heater aka RDHunter from Michigan ,I'm a retiered factory rat / auto worker from G.M. at the ripe old age of 51 .. will be 52 this coming April 8th , my dad always told everyone I was born a week late.
Any ways I've been turkey and whitetail deer hunting for 12 to 15 years now and I just love to be in the woods as much as I can so I'm there every chance I can get away.
I have taken quite a few deer and birdsthough the years but I'm still after a big off color phase tom thats been haunting me for two years now.
Seen him just a week ago while shed hunting and he has gotten alot bigger this year and his beard was draggin in the snow.
My vote forcaptain goes to deerdust after all he happens to be a Mod in this forum so he has the powerof the pen. :D
As for a team name ... will as you can see in my avatar, I am onthe bowhunting turkey contest as well and we are called Morning Thunder but heres a few that we didn't select ...Gobbler Getters , Beard Busters ,The Spur Collectors andThe Tommy Whackers just to name a few.
Oh bythe way ... I just checked the drawing resultswith my states DNR site and I got my second choice which is May 12th through the 31st , that gives me three weeks to hunt turkeys in the late season.

Great to have you all on board and meet ya! If no one has any objections, I will take the Captain position. As to the team name: I kind of like RDH's suggestion of "Tommy Whackers" or "Tommy Knockers". Lets hear more suggestions, but we have to do it quick.

Everyone start practicing their calling yet? My name is Tim, and I live in Minnesota. I am a full time taxidermist and will be hunting Wisconsin May 7-11. Probably will just be taking my bow this year and leave the gun home.

March 29th is youth day here, full season starts April 1st.

Team capt and name don't bother me, I'm with the crowd. Just let me know where to post it if take one.

RDHunter 03-04-2008 08:31 PM

RE: Team 2 Sign In...

All right team .... this is my plan , I'm gonna use my Double Bull T5 blind on the edge of a clearing with these Bobble Head maiting pair and feeding hen within 15 yards one off to my left and the other to my right.
Wait for day break and start off with a soft tree yelp followed by a fly down cackle and then use my Hurricane by Quaker Boy for some love sick hen yelps and clucks.
With any luck that old boss tom will come running within bow range and I'll get that shot.

RE: Team 2 Sign In...

Welcome Al, how'd you fare through this latest storm?

I'm really starting to worry about the deer and turkey I hunt. This winter has been brutal with deep snow, freezing rain causing crusts on the snow, and extreme cold weather. The winter started early and is running late. Toronto is close to an all time record for snow accumulation in one winter, and the private farms I hunt north of the city are in snow belts that get alot more than we do down here.

I know the deer should be OK, but I can't imagine what the turkey are eating, they sure aren't scratching down to bare ground. I haven't been able to get up to the farm since Christmas, if I can make it this weekend I'll try to use a snowmachine to pack down an area and throw out 50lbs of corn. I'm sure its legal, as long as there is none in the area 6 weeks from now.

Edit: I'm not a baiter, never have been. I'm just worried about a huge winter kill this year.

NY/Al 03-05-2008 02:25 PM

RE: Team 2 Sign In...

Lucky for me i live in the heart of cow country, this means corn. We have had a fair amount of snow but also have a ton of grain fields and such. The latest warm spell really helped. I think the birds will make it just fine...i hope!:D

Good evening Team 2! This be Bluegunner, signing in! I'm looking forward to participating with you younguns (celebrated my 66th birthday this last year). I'm from Minnesota and been hunting the Willy Turk for a number of years. Have taken several Easterns 24# and over, have several Merrians and last spring my first Rio from Texas and an Eastern from Michigan with 1 1/2 spurs. Sometime before I have to hang up my camo I hope to make it to Flordia and take an Osceola. Looks like I will be hunting Mn., Neb., and possible Wisc.. Wish you all the best of luck and hope we all have nice 3-5 year old Toms in front of our guns this year!

We're looking good with 8 out of 10 responded already.
With a mod, a couple of taxi's, a guide or two; how can we lose?

Anyone here good with graphics?
I'm fine with deerdust as capt'n, and will take any name, but I'd like a new avatar!

deerdust 03-05-2008 08:23 PM

RE: Team 2 Sign In...

Welcome Bluegunner, glad to have you onboard the team. Congrats on the 66th. In this day and age it seems to be getting harder to advance in years, due to all the new ailments. And the cures are worse for you and have worse side effects than the original ailment.. lol

I went ahead and put myself down as the team Captain. If there are any objections, feel free to voice them. I have no problem if someone else wants the position. Such as age before beauty,,, lol that would put 2 ahead of me.

As to the team name,,,How about Tommy Knockers , I have always been a big fan of knockers;), preferably smaller,[8D]Any other suggestions, try and get them in tonight and I will post the team name in the morning.

We haven't heard from hoosierbowhunter or 24/7hunter, but honestly I'm impressed that we have 8 of 10 already.
I've been on teams before where only 1/2 the guys replied after weeks, and one time we needed to replace 1/2 the team with alternates because guys dissappeared off the face of the earth.
deerdust is the captain, lets leave the PM'ing up to him.

Yup we can let deerdust worry about the political stuff, all we gotta do is hammer some birds!;)

Hey guys Im here. Just got home last night from a week of shed hunting in kansas. We saw alot of turkeys there too and got a few to gobble as well. Got me pumped for season
Im 17 years old and live in stevens point, WI. We have about3 feet of snow so Im not sure how the turkeys are doing with that. I might take my bow out, but I will have my 12 gauge If I decide not to.

deerdust 03-09-2008 02:02 PM

RE: Team 2 Sign In...Tommy Knockers

Hahaha Bluegunner, my memory is still going strong. Yes we were on the same team last yr. The winning team that is. Team #1 "The Tominators". We'll have to talk to Michael again this yr when we win and see if he can put together another of the posters like he did last yr.
