RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Welcome Ron, nice to see anotherfellow cheesehead. That makes three of us!
Well guys, I just saw we are in last place. Every other team has at least shot one bird. We need someone to break the ice. Then watch out, last to first.........no pressure guys. I start Wednesday, but I believe we'll have a couple by then. |
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
I dont knowif this weekend is gunna be the one for me. Its been pretty bad so far.
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Ok guys one of us needs to score soon. Were the only team without a bird and were in dead last. Doesnt mean we still can't get it done. Ill be going tommorow and Sunday, with Sunday looking the best cause of the weather.
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Hopefully everything will come together this weekend. Can't hunt alot cause of work. Things will change by this weekend, hopefully.
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
I just got back from the morning hunt, the rain held off and the weather was beautiful....i had 5 or 6 gobblers up in my cut bean field but we were set up in a valley next to it so they didnt come down. Ill be setting up some decoys for the mid-morninghunt in the field and making a homemade blind, hopefully my luck will change!

I went out this morning and we had three going nutsoff the roost, but they flew on down and we believe they locked up the real deal and did not want nothing to do with our pretty calls! They shut right up short after daylight and we stuck it out for a few more hours and called it a day!! I will be back out there next week, I am still going with MdDave from on here trying to get him to put his first one on the ground! So I am trying fellows! Good Luck all!!!!!!!!! |
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Well my first season pretty much sucked. I can honestly say that was the worst five days of hunting, I've ever had in the turkey woods. There were a few gobblers around, but I could not call them off their hens.
I could havetaken a legal bird,Saturday and Sunday. Both days I had bearded hens in easy range, but decided not to shoot them. We have two of them running around, and I had both of them in front of the blind Sunday @ 5:30p.m.Idecided I was going to eat my first tag, as season closed at sunset that evening. Next time I go out will be May 14, hopefully by then most of the hens will be sitting! Good Luck to all that are still hunting. |
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
I will have to agree that so far it has sucked. If I could shoot straight I would be on the board. Story of my life. All of my turkeys are shutting up after daylight and not gobbling at all during the morning. Make for a long day. Going to hunt some private property this weekend, has lots of turkeys maybe I can give a better report nest weekend.
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
I agree on this early season sucking
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
NO BIRDS YET?
JW |
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
No man its been rough hunting....well get on the board eventually ;)
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
well guys, this seasonisofficially the worst one i have ever seen in my life. this time last year i had two biggobblers on the ground. this year has been nothing but bad weather and bad luck. for the last three weeks every single gobbler i've heard has been henned up or a half mile away on someone elses property. i can't tell you how many mornings the birds haven't gobbled at all because of rain or cold snaps. i only have two more weeks to change my luck before my shotgun goes back in the safe for another year. i'm going out in the morning, so wish me luck.
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
I agree
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
I will also agree this season sucks. I couldn't buy a bird for some reason. The birds in se mo have lock-jaw. Tough huntung but have 1 more weekend.
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
I have 2 more weeks to hunt. Sadly, i have not seen a gobbler while hunting yet. Plenty of gobbling going on but from where they are roosting on our property they just fly down over a valley and onto somebody else's property. And they wont budge for any call we have put their way. Im looking at hitting up some new ground this weekend and maybe my luck will change.
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Well boys my season is over. All my gobblers are STILL henned up. I missed one but that doesn't get us on the board. I'm ready to start fishing.
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Im gunna take a jake this weekend if i can just to get us on the board
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Well guys, three days left, and its not looking good. i haven't heard anything in a while, and what birds i did hear have been henned up. I'm going to try my best to get us on the board in these next three days, but my hopes aren't very high. at this point i'm ready toget on the lake, chase those bassand try to forget this season ever happened. hopefully next year will be better.
|
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
I have two more weeks left!
I have come to a conclusion though, THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!! Im with the rest of you guys, time to do some fishin! If the rain will stay away here I might be able to do that [:@][:@]!! |
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Layed one out this afternoon.
After sitting 2 1/2 hours, having one tom run off, and the farmer in the next field tilling...... this guy was a welcome sight. Came out of nowhere by a fence line when I first saw him he was maybe 45 yards. He closed that distance very fast he saw my strutting jake decoy. He puffed up and walked the "green mile" right to the decoys face. Thought I would let him do his thing for awhile but my nerves got the best I shot him fast. My 11-87 with 3" #6Remington Hevi- Shot has once again impressed me 3 years in a row. I never made 1 call the 2 1/2 hrs I was there. He also never gobbled. 22 1/2 lbs - 10" beard - 1" spurs = 62.375 I'll have better pics in the morning with me and the gun. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Been up north all weekend, and am at work now, so I'll get some pictures on later. They are not as good as Irhuntr's, as I was in a hurry. Preliminary score of 68.375 Pictures, story and official measurements later today or maybe tommorrow |

RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Well guys I finally got one on 5-16 @ 1:35. Found him the day before on some heavily hunted public land. He was one of those field turkey's. Liked to hang out in the middle of this big hay field. I watched him Thursday around noon for 2 hours. Hemilled around out in the field, he finally crossed a fence line to get to a CRPfield. Friday,I went back to the same field about noon, I snuck up on the field and saw he was there again. This time I crawled around as close as I could to the spot he crossed the fence the prev. day. I layed there on my belly for an hour watching him. Finally he started working my way, He was quartering towards me. When he got as close as I thought he was going to get I shot. It ended up being a few yards farther than I usually shoot, and I will shoot them out to 45 yards. Conclusion.......Dead Bird.
21 lbs. 4 ounces , 10 1/8 " beard, 1 3/8" @ 1 5/16" Spurs. 21.25 + 13.75 + 13.125 + 20.25 = 68.375 ![]() |

I too killed my bird on some heavily hunted public land. There was no shortage of birds though. :D |
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!

RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
ORIGINAL: CSIMAN08/OH Are we going to get these other birds on the board? ;) Well finally got around to taking care of posting PYBUCK's great bird! Sorry so late! PYBUCK~~ Congrats on a great bird, way to get the job done!! |
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Just filled my 6th period tag this morning, he's not going to be bigger than my first bird, so no need to score him.
9 1/2" beard and 3/4" spurs. I have not weighed him yet, But I'm thinking right around 18 lbs. Got within 60 yards of were he was roosting, and he pitched down right in front of the barrel @ 30 yards. Every once in while........ it's that easy! After puttingin120 hours of turkey hunting between my three seasons, and calling for my brother and my wife the season is officially over.:D |
RE: Team #10!!!!!! Check In Here!!!
Don't we need to get a third bird posted up? I thought our team had 3 down?
