I saw a whole field of strutters and some hens on friday night. They were right off the road in a cut bean field so I stopped and gave them some mouth yelps and about 5 gobbled in unison. Pretty sight to see. Then they saw my car and scadaddled.:D I can't hunt there but it as nice to see some birds finally.

Ok guys how do yas want to handle the stickers. Ok here is how were doing it that is JW and myself. JW and myself are splitting up the stickers. He and I will then distribute the stickers to the team captains or their representive. They then send the stickers to the team members. Now this is up to MoBow if he wants to collect the stickers and distribute them or to save MoBow the trouble I can just mail them to you and save MoBow the extra step. Just let me know how yas want to do it. Im easy anywayyas want to do it.

Hey guys....just checking in.

My season opens, Saturday. I'll be there morning and evening.....going after them with the bow (as I will all season). I heard 'em gobbling in the woods behind the house this morning....so I know they're there.;)

Rob/PA (from the bowhunting forum) will be here hunting with me next weekend. We'll try our best to not only get one (Rob shoots, first;))....but get one on film, as well.

I'll keep you all posted.

I hope we all kill one the same size as your bird Joe. You got us on the board. Now Joe you might have to keep on us Im headed out Sunday. I'll be hunting Monday morning. I cant wait to hear that first gobble. I'll be like a kid in the candy store. My sleep is getting shorter and shorter as the days get closer. Man Im addicted to this. My turkeys here at home havent been helping me either. I see full strut gobblers everyday here at home. They are lighting it up here. I dont take much to get them to gobble... Im ready... But please everyone be safe...

Went out for Maryland's opener Friday morning. Was scheduled to get off work at 4am, as always, but a guy called off and I got stuck till 7am, which put me in the woods around 7:30am. Hiked my tail off, but couldn't get a bird to sound off to save my life. Ended up setting up on a ridge top and calling blind for a couple hours. Managed to call in a single hen. [:'(] Got a little excited when I heard the leaves rustling, but oh well. I'll be hitting adifferent propertyWed. and Thurs.mornings. I also have the PA opener coming up. The weather around here is really supposed to warm up next week, so hopefully that'll get 'em talking. Good luck to all with openerscoming up!

Got back from my hunt a little early. I decided not to go to Wy. Because of a buddy's scouting reports. Had a couple of run ins with Minn. hunters on opening day. This has been my worst hunting trip I have had in a long time. Not because of the turkeys , but of unethical and greedy hunters. I shot 2 birds in Montana. I will also be hunting Id. on the weekends along with a 5 day hunt thrown in there.I have got 2 more tags to fill. My best bird is 18.8 lbs 9" beard spurs 5/8 and 9/16. What do I need to do to register? I may have bigger birds coming though. If you want to hear the horror stories let me know. Later Bill

Congrats on your birds Ultimag.

Just post a picture of your best bird in this thread and let me know the stats on him. Or you can wait til you get back from your trip and post up your best bird.

It really stinks that you had a bunch of run-ins with slob hunters. They can really make hunting more stressful that it needs to be.

If you want to post up some stories go ahead...It never ceases to amaze me what people are capable of.[&o]

Here goes, opening day we are sitting on some roosted birds on private property in which I know we have the only permission. This property borders natl. forest. I have a buddy on one corner and me on the other to protect two potential flydown spots.I hear 2 shots I thought were my buddy. He walks over and no so we go over to see 2 Minn. hunters picking up 2 jakes. I know there were 6 long beards in there. I confront and they give the lame excuse of thinking it was public after crossing a fence with cows in it, And we seen them for a day and a half cruising around the place. They also said that they have hunted there for 8 yrs. I have never seen them before. After the shots I swa 4 birds fly over my head so after the first Fiasco we cross the creek where the birds went and they started gobbling we set up and call one in and shoot it.While the birds were coming in I see a "Hunter" sneaking along the timberline.Luckily he did not spook him. Then he comes walking over after I yell and tell him he is on private property.I tell this guy 3 times it would be in his best interest to turn and walk. He tells me he knows it is private and the fence is just right over there. Then I explain about his buddies and he says that they knocked on the ranchers door to ask permission but no one was home. Explain that one. Then in Wyoming I have a buddy down there hunting when I get the report that the ranch that he hunts is intentionally feeding the turkeys to keep them on there property so that a one armed guide can pay 100 bucks for every bird they kill. My buddy hunts there opening morning with his 12 yr old son. (The only reason he can hunt)His son gets his bird early When they witness the one armed guide pulling in late and driving down the road when his "Client Hunter" jumps out and shoots a bird feeding on some grain pile. How is that for a guided hunt? The moral of this story is unethics and greed are driving me away. Also do not book a hunt with a one armed guide in Wy.

Sorry to hear about your troubles ultimag...sometimes it seems like there is nothing you can do to persuade an unethical hunter to do the right things.:(

Glad you had luck...I had high hopes with the beautiful morning. Heard 4 gobbles all morning[:@]. I'm going to try a new area on wednesday I just don't think there were many birds around. Saw 6 hens and none of them had gobblers with them. I don't know what was up.

Ok fellas heres what happened this morning. I got set up on a wheat field in a blind at 530am, decoys out. I just set and waited for shooting light. I already had a gobbler gobbling 100 yards away. Well as light progressed there were more and more gobbles. 13 different gobblers in all. As its getting lighter I noticed the trees not 70 yards away are full of hens. Then I see the gobbler. Well the hens flydown to another adjoining field away from me, then the gobbler follows. Well Im bummin now. But I didnt give up. I gave some loud yelps from my Cody and some purrs and cluck. Then I hear it, sweet music to me ears the spit and drum. Here he comes. I purr he gobbles. Hes now 60 yards away and coming. He sees the decoys keeps coming now at 50. I purr and cluck, and a gobble came from directly in front of me. I look there are 2 more gobblers in the field. Then they all eyeball each other. The first gobbler is 30 yards away now and I can shoot he's to far to my right. The other 2 gobblers decide they dont like it and give me the old dreaded wing flip. They start heading off. I turn to watch the first gobbler. Hes wanting to move away. I slide out of my chair, get on my knees, put the gun threw the window. I then lowered the boom on him at 30 yards.20lbs 9 1/2 in beard and 7/8in spurs.

Heres the link to my pic.

Well guys I scored.... Opening day was nice to me. I called in a 19 lbs 9in for my buddy and he harvested his first bird everat 9:30 am. Around 6:30 pm It was my turn... calling like crazy at a tom and a solo hen I destracted him enough to loose sight of her and then it was on. It took about 30 mins to get to the creek 35 yrds. in front of me. The hard part was to get himto cross it (a liitle to thick) once he did I filled my tag. I was so exited that I pinch my finger pretty good chambering the next round. That sucked. I'll get the pics up tommorow I'm short on time. Sorry.

221/2 lbs.
10 in. beard
spurs 7/8 and 1 in.

Good luck guys.

Well here he is guys killed him at 30 yrds. 4-21 at 6:30 pm. I called him away from a hen. It was truly exciting.
22.5 lbs
10 in. beard
1 in. right spur
7/8 in. left spur
I calculated it on the nwtf site and got 122.5 so I think I screwed somthing up can someone calulate it. Or tell me what I did wrong.
I also have pics of the spurs and beard (if needed) but I dont know how to attach more than one pic at a time.
