Turns out that cool little story about creepin up on those two toms and my buddy missing BOTH of em has ruined my hunting. I've been back 4 or 5 times since then and have had NO luck hearing or seeing any birds. Pretty sure I won't see those two longbeards again this year, makes me sick. It seems like there oughta be plenty more birds to gobble for me though. It's 300 acres of riverbottom farmlandwith hardwood hollows andridges galore, I know there's more than 3 gobblers in there. I dont have any time to hunt during the week this year b/c of dadgum school, so it makes me wonder if other people are poaching....? Hasn't been a great season at all, but hopefully it will change SOON! I'm going to south alabama with a buddy to his family peanut farm this weekend, and next weekend my landlord, who has already killed his limit of 5 this year, is takin me to some of his property. But let me just say, CONGRATS to everybodywho is having a great season! You guys, AND GALS, keep it up and keep having fun!

Just got back from my evening run (in the rain to boot). I was tooling along when a bird cut loose about 100 yds from the road I was on. I stopped and gave a listen. He must have gobbled 50 times in 10 min. They are getting cranked up here in PA.

Well guys, figured I would check in.I've been doing some scouting and also setup a new turkey gun for myself, so I'm prepared at this point very well I think.

I ended up buying a new 870 SPS Turkey with the23" barrel and Shurshot stock on it, fully dipped in Mossy Oak Obsession. The gun issweet. I've also mounted a 2-7x33 Mueller Multi-Shot on it with the illuminatedcircle dot reticle. If I can get anything within 50 yards this thing should kill one dead as a box of hammers........[8D]. I'm still playing with load and choke combos but should be done with that by this weekend. So far I've shot Wingmaster 3.5" HD out of it, 3.5" Winchester Supreme #5's, 3" Winchester ER HD #6's, and a few others out of a variety of chokes. I also have anIndian Creek .665 coming for it and some 3.5" 2.25oz #6 Hevi 13 loads that I think are going to be just the ticket for this thing. I've read of a few people with this exact choke/load/gun setup that were putting 200+ pellets into a 10" circle at 40 yards. ;)

Last weekend I went to the property I hunt here in NY before first light on Saturday and heard 3 birds in the same roosting spots we killed 2 of them out of last year. Looks like we should be able to get on them there again this year.

Also I put up the camera at my place in PA back in March with a small pile of corn just to draw them in enough to take inventory with the camera. The corn is gone now but I'm still getting pics as of earlier this week.

Looks like I'll have maybe 9 hunts this year to try and fill 3 tags, and with the number of birds I'm seeing I don't think it will be a problem to put at least one on the board for the team.

Below are a few of the better pics from my camera setup in PA for you to enjoy!

Great pictures! Season opened today here in NC. I am not going to be able to get in the woods until Monday. I'm heading out tomorrow evening to hopefully roost a couple birds for the Monday morning hunt. I haven't been able to get on here or out there as much as I would like. I'm moving from NC to SC in less than 2 weeks so things are a little crazy around the house. I'll let ya'll know how it goes Monday. Good luck everyone!

Got my second one today, finally. About the same size as the last one, 9 inch beard and inch spurs, bout 18 lbs. Had three big uns gobbling their ugly heads off from about 9:00 til 11:00, they circled me and snuck in to my right, I swung and popped one. Fun fun day in the woods. Pictures coming soon. NICE pics Rick!!!

Finally got number 2 today!!! I got down there at 9:30, saw the same ol gobbler struttin on the road where I killed the first one, so I rushed to get set up. I sat there for about 20 minutes before it turned into an all outgobblefest between 3 or 4 different toms. I answered back with a little yelp, which I continued doing every 15 minutes or so. They gobbled over and over, cutting each other off and going crazy when crows flew over. Around 10:30 they all shut up, and I got a little worried. About 20 minutes later I saw em out of the corner of my eye, 3 of em walkin down the road from right to left......I was facing the opposite direction, they circled me. I waited for the lead gobbler to walk behind a tree, then swung and put the hurt on him. Anyways, here he is. My second bird, finally!

Hey guys/gals/teammates, I experienced one of the most incredible days of turkey hunting in a long time yesterday. Started with my best friend, my youngest brother and I all with tags, ended with 3 longbeards down, including a double with my little brother. I wrote and incredibly long story and will post it on the main forum. Score another one for the team!

23 lbs 0 oz
1 1/2" left spur, 1 7/16" right spur
9 3/4" beard
