RE: Team 5 Sign In !!!
Congrats on the bird!!!!
Been away the past few days, took a mini vacation with the family. Horseback riding, shed hunting, making sure the turkey gun is shooting where it is supposed to, if I need it. 50 yards, still good. Found tracks in the snow but, only a couple sets on the Mi. property. A bit discouraging but, I didn't get through all the property. Didn't hear any birds either but, a lot can change before my season here. The Ky. reports are still good though and thats just a couple weeks away. |
RE: Team 5 Sign In !!!
I know dog1 personally - a very good turkey hunter and have no doubt......I do owe him a call - wonder if his cell phone is on? Now that would be plain mean as the time is 5:41 AM here and I know he be in the woods - got a bird above gobblin - dieing from the mass of hungry skeeters as he won't move! Ya know age helps with that! By the time he slapped - the skeeter is gone! :)
oops not fair but I do think last yr I got to tag along as skeeter bait and it was slap fest! oops back to the subject - I know that bird is down and know thr area he was at! I was there last yr! So I will call to find out for ya, JW |

TO MY FRIEND dog1 - JW scribe...... helping him report in.
![]() close up ![]() stats to follow - here go as reported by dog1 Well I finally broke the ice. Third day of the season, 20 to 30 mile ph wind gust and got a bird at 6:20 p.m. this afternoon. A hen came in feeding at 6:00 p.m., 10 minutes later I see the gobbler coming. At 6:20 p.m. I had him down, not the greatest bird I've taken but just as much fun. I didn't hear but one bird this morning and couldn't turn him. Went back at 2:00 p.m. and set up a blind, got in it around 3:00 p.m. with a thermos of coffee. Was there more to see if I could tell where their roost was. I was proud of my gun, haven't had to shoot anything over 20 or 30 steps since I got it 2 years ago, but today, I steped it off going to the bird and back to the blind, 46 steps. Don't what that equals in actual yardage, will measure it later. I believe I'm on team 5 (can't find the list to that either). He weighed 19.6 lbs., 9.5 inch beard, both spurs was only three quarter inches. I'll figure his score when I find the web site to do so. I'm a happy camper. dog1 P.S.Just found the calculator, this should be correct: 19.375+7.5+7.5+19= 53.375 , I am on team #5. |
RE: Team 5 Sign In !!!

13 more days until the trip to Ky. Unfortunately, as soon as it gets here, it will be over. Unless I take residence in woods :D!
How's the turkey signs been down there Cody? I haven't got a report on the property in a week or so now. We are seeing birds here in Mi. strutting and starting to get henned up. |
