Default RE: The truth about xbow's

The true sport of Archery (recurve or compound).............and the ability, form, and requirements, to achieve exceptional levels of skill is what sets this discipline apart from crossbow shooting.

Bone to Bone alignment, power triangles, the floating of a sight under holding weight, stance, draw length dynamics, back tension, the release explosion, target panic and all its maladies, the feel of the grip and a proper hand position. The ability to relax ALL muscles but the correct back muscles to hold 20 or so lbs of weight and hold as rock steady as possible.......................................... ..............The proper draw, that allows everything to start in its correct position, as tension is transferred through the abs and triceps into the deep rb muscles, the challenge of shooting up hill and down hill with proper form and not letting the angles reek havoc on your game

These are all the intricate parts of what makes ARCHERY such a great and challenging sport - bowhunting or target..................and the TRUE core of what separates "Shooting Bows" from shooting a crossbow.................
Rack-attack

First let me say I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU JUST SAID.

The only problem is, not you nor anyone else can RE-DEFINE what archery is, it's already been done. I wish I could, because I would use your exact words as the "new definition" then there would be no arguments about crossbows. Everyone thinks I'm pro-crossbow, I'm really not, I don't care either way. I don't use one, have never shot one and I come from a state that does not allow them but to the handicapped. I just don't see the evil that most do.

What I do see is the definition of what archery is, and that is according to the Websters Dictionary: "The pratice or art of shooting with a bow and arrow" and unfortunately a crossbow fits into the definition of what a bow is. I even looked at an online encyclopedia for it's definition,[link]http://www.encyclopedia.com[/link] I looked up crossbow and it said: "See bow and arrow"

Now without getting mad can you at least see what I'm talking about?

That is the truth about crossbows.......like them or not they are tied to our sport and have been for centuries.
