788s were accurate in one part because of the quick lock time. I have a few and looking at them I don't see anything done any better or worse than a 700. So I don't think you can just say 788.

Am not familiar with Savage other than the fact all the ones I've shot have shot very well for a factory gun. Not so much better but as good as others and at less cost. Of course the way the barrel is put on saves bucks to some extent. And of course the finish and stocks and fit are not all that great.
