Default RE: a place to shoot a rusian boar

That kind of hunting just never had any appeal to me. On the other hand, several years back, a buddy talked me into one of those bowhunter jamborees at High Ridge in Hooversville. Everyone pays about half what youd pay for a boar hunt, you draw for your spot and must stay within 10 yards of it. They have a variety of critters, boar, rams, fallow deer, ibex, nilgai, I even heard they had an ostrich once. They have 60% animals to hunters. Everyone must wait for the signal before shooting anything and then they have guys putting on drives.

It's NOT fair chase but it can be fun. Their is an element of chance because there are more hunters than animals. You also never know whats going to come by. Shot a boar that way and some fallow deer. There aint any better eatin than a fallow deer!! We used to get there Friday night, camp out, grill some venison backstraps, down a few barley pops then get up and "hunt" Saturday and head home. The campout was as much fun as the "hunt"

Not your quality wilderness experience but it was a fun way to spend the weekend in the off season.
