Thanks NVMIKE. I was an Elko resident for 9 years and only slightly involved in politics. I have exactly the same make on geographic politics as you describe. While he could be on the right side this time, I still must stand by my statement that this is useless and therefore dangerous legislation. He can support this without any real commitment to either side.
You can only get so much attention from congress. If you bother them with this bill, then later you need a real action, they ask their clerks, "didn't I already vote for a bill on that?" And the clerks say, "yeah, you did. I wouldn't bother with another one, there's more PAC money in other causes". Wasting their time and attention on a do nothing reaffirmation of a right that already exists.
