wow, i see my first post has really struck up some good conversation. thanks to all that gave their opinion and suggestions. i know griz are big tough animals, i hope never to run into one, i would like to get some of the guns you mentioned for protection, but like i said i only have my 30-06. with my own knowledge i agree that it is probably a little light, but that is the biggest gun i have, so it will have to do, it is better than nothing. still waiting to take a look at the 338 the guy has for sale. i got another one for you, i have a 12 ga, what if i were to get some slugs for that baby, would that be as good as the 06? just another "i wonder" question.
