Andy, first of all what type of bass will you be fishing for. This plays a big part in lure selection and where to fish. If they are largemouth then you will fish pre and post spawning areas with lures such as spinnerbaits, crankbaits and worms. If they are small mouth they tend to like rocky bottoms where you would use small twister tail grubs, crankbaits, and tube jiggs. As far as a Zara Spook, that is what is referred to as a cigar bait due to it's shape. it's a topwater and is usually twitched so that it moves side to side in what is called a "walk the dog" motion.
