Time is almost here!
Anyone that has read my posts here, knows I love Elk hunting, but it goes much deeper than that. The spring time is magic in Elk country. Things start to green after a long winter. The snow starts to melt on the mountain peaks and the Elk are on the move back tword summer grounds. I have to start scouting soon or I will go nuts. Late May to early June is when it happens. The cows have there young! There isn't anything in this world like a calf at 10yds laying flat on the ground for the camera! They are the most beautiful thing. Now mom gets a little pived with me, but I snap off a couple than get out of the way. To watch moms and young ones together is a real treat. As the cows return to the herds with their young and to watch the calves play warms my heart. Add this to seeing the bulls growing antlers back, WOW! Add this to a back drop of wild flowers and moutain peaks in CO. It makes Cabin Fever worth it, because you know what is at the end. True peace and beauty, almost heaven.
