Default RE: Ethical range for Bowhunter's

John--in open areas and providing I have a good shot at the vitals I will take a 60 yard shot. I have pretty much chrono'ed my bow and arrow combination and at 60 yards I'll still be packing about 50 KE with a speed of about 238 ft/sec--enough for a pass thru, once I hit where I'm aming.

Of course the weather conditions at the time of the shot, will also play a part in my decision--if it's on a windy day--forget it--I will not go beyond 30 yards--maybe I wouldn't even take that shot, isn't worth the risk of injuring the animal and not finding it.
In wooded areas all depends on the shooting lanes and again how presentable the vitals of the animal is.
But what I am saying--in perfect conditions, I have shot my bow enough, everyday, to be confident enough to take a 60 yards shot.
This my create a stir for some guys here--but whatever the situation is, I will make that decision as whether to shoot or not to shoot--all depends on the circumstances at that time.
It is never intentional to take a bad shot, but things happen and you can make a bad shot even at 8 ~ 10 yards--and when that happens it's a hard pill to swallow.[:@].
