Default RE: .45 cal for Elk

With a 275 or 340 grain Black Belt, it would be adequate. The 340-grain is a special order item from Big Bore Express. I also use the Lyman-Gould .45/70, 340-grain hollowpoint (.457122HP) cast of pure lead and sized to .451, seated over a Wonderwad in a 1/22" twist barrel with 90 grains of FFg. This load would also do for elk.

Keep yore powder dry!!
