SABOTS
Thompson Center Mag Express Sabots work the best.
- 240 grain T/C Mag Express XTP's with 100 grains of FFg powder
- 375 grain Buffalo Bullet Co. SSB Sabots with 100 grains FFg (Cabela's)
- 250 grain T/C Shockwaves with 100-120 grains of FFg
- 250 grain Barnes Expanders with 100 grains FFg
- 240 grain T/C Cheapshots with 85 grains FFg
- 405 grain .458 diameter Remington FP in orange Knight Sabot with 100 grains of Goex 2f
CONICALS
- 460 grain
No Excuses Conicals with 85 grains of Triple Se7en FFg or Goex 3f
- 370 grain T/C maxiball with 100 grains of Pyrodex RS
- 348 grain lead HP Powerbelts with 100 grains Pyrodex RS
these are the loads that shoot well out of my Black Diamond XR. I hunt with the No Excuses Conicals and the 375 grain Buffalo Bullet SSB sabots. The accuracy from these two is excellent.
my Black Diamond XR has a 1.5 X 4.5 Bushnell Banner Dusk to Dawn scope with Trophy mounts. The scope has extended eye relief (which you will appreciate).
Also get a 7/16th socket with an 8" extension for your socket set. It will be the best breech plug wrench you can find. When at the range be sure and twist your breech plug every 8 shots to make sure it is not seizing up. Also when shooting off the bench, never rest the rifle on the barrel, only the stock if you expect to hit anything.
